Are you scared yet? Just when you thought it was safe to go back to lounging on your couch, “Family Guy” is dropping a brand-new Halloween special, and it’s poised to be as chaotic and irreverent as ever. Titled “A Little Fright Music,” this exclusive episode is part of Hulu’s Huluween lineup, and honestly, it’s about spookin’ time we got some fresh, scary shenanigans from the Griffin family. After more than two decades on the air, you’d think they’d run out of ways to shock us, but here we are, ready to be proven frightfully wrong once again.
Let’s face it, the quality of Halloween content has been a mixed bag of late. It seems like Brian and Stewie agree. The premise for this special sees the iconic duo taking matters into their own hands, deciding that the world is suffering from a severe shortage of good Halloween songs. This is true – we need way more songs like “Thriller.”
So, naturally, the pair sets out to write their own musical masterpiece. Given Stewie’s flair for the dramatic and Brian’s pretentious artistic ambitions, this can only end in glorious, hilarious disaster. Will they give us the next “Monster Mash,” or will it be another one of Brian’s cringe-worthy avant-garde literary attempts set to music? Our money’s on the latter, and we are totes here for it.
While the two geniuses are busy composing their spooky symphony (or serenade), Peter and the guys – Quagmire, Cleveland, and Joe – stumble into their own horror story. What starts as a classic scheme of lying about trick-or-treating for some extra candy quickly spirals into a fight for their lives. Shocker!
The trailer hints at some seriously deadly consequences, featuring Ghostface-style killers wielding chainsaws. It’s a classic Family Guy move: take a simple, relatable premise and dial the absurdity up to eleven until someone is running for their life. Or bleeding all over. This is the kind of high-stakes, low-brow humor that has kept the show on the air for more than 20 seasons. It’s a formula that just (frightfully!) works.
So, when and where can you witness this Halloween madness? “A Little Fright Music” (title à la Phantom of the Opera) will drop exclusively on Hulu on October 6, 2025. For those on the West Coast, you can tune in at 9 p.m. PT on October 5th. Everyone else can catch it at midnight ET. The episode will have a standard 22-minute runtime, packing all that crazed chaos into a perfect, digestible dose of animated insanity.
If you don’t have Hulu, now might be the time to jump on board. A basic subscription runs $9.99 a month, but the Disney Bundle is probably your best bet at $16.99, which gets you Hulu, Disney+, and either ESPN+ or Max. Considering that Disney+ and Hulu are the exclusive streaming homes for all things Family Guy, it’s a worthy investment for any fan.
This special comes hot on the heels of FOX’s announcement that the show has been renewed for an almost unbelievable four more seasons (Seasons 24-27). It’s a bold move that cements the show’s legacy and ensures that the Griffins will be gracing our screens for years to come. While the main series’ Season 24 isn’t expected until sometime in 2026, these exclusive holiday specials on Hulu are the perfect way to tide us over.
It proves that Seth MacFarlane and the team still have plenty of creative gas left in the proverbial tank. They definitely aren’t afraid to keep pushing the creative bounds of what a cartoon can get away with. That’s delightful and scary at the same time.
