Finn Wolfhard opens up about his character's 'Stranger Things' ending

With the last season of Netflix's Stranger Things scheduled to finally be released this year, fans are dying to know how the series ends after five seasons and, more importantly, if their favorite characters will survive.

Finn Wolfhard, who stars on the show as Mike Wheeler, expressed to PEOPLE, "I was so happy with his ending, and I don't know, I was satisfied, but I was also very confused and sad, but also very happy."

However, he added that finishing the show "was definitely a lot," explaining, "I felt like I was in a dream or something. None of it felt real. I don't know, it felt perfect."

He shares that the cast all stayed for the last day, commenting, "We were all there together. It was really great to be around each other." When filming his final scene, he "just couldn't believe it at all."

"It didn't really start to go into focus until the next day," the actor recalled. "It was like an emotional hangover. But it ended really well, and I just have such positive things to say about everyone."

The rest of the cast includes Millie Bobby Brown, Noah Schnapp, Sadie Sink, Caleb McLaughlin, Gaten Matarazzo, Joe Keery, David Harbour, Natalia Dyer, Charlie Heaton, Winona Ryder, Maya Hawke, Priah Ferguson, and Jamie Campbell Bower.

With Stranger Things over, he considers this "the start of a different chapter of my life."

"It feels like a weird graduation in my life," he told NME. "With Stranger Things ending last year, it was the end of an era, and to have this film [Hell Of A Summer] coming out – which I’ve been living with for years – feels like a new start. It’s nerve-wracking but I also want to celebrate it."

Wolfhard can currently be seen in Hell of a Summer, which he co-wrote and is his directorial debut. Additionally, he has The Legend of Ochi coming out on April 25.
