Marvel Studios has released the first teaser trailer for Thunderbolts*, giving fans a first look at the new superpowered team in the MCU. Parts of this particular teaser had leaked a few weeks ago, but we can now watch the whole thing in its full glory.
The trailer shows Yelena (Florence Pugh) visiting a classified facility on an unknown mission, who is met with hostility from U.S. Agent (Wyatt Russel), Taskmaster (Olga Kurylenko), and Ghost (Hannah John-Kamen). After a brief skirmish, all of them meet "Bob" (Lewis Pullman), realizing that they've been assembled here from an unknown person, who seems to be Contessa Valentina (Julia Louis-Dreyfus).
Following that, we see quick shots of the Red Guardian (David Harbour) and Bucky (Sebastian Stan), the latter looking like he's once again under the spell of someone else in the trailer's concluding chase scene.
Watch the trailer below, set to the tunes of an alternate version of The Pixies' "Where Is My Mind."
Thunderbolts* will be the thirty-sixth film set in the MCU, and it follows narrative threads from various projects across the franchise. In many ways, the ensemble film will be a direct sequel to Black Widow, The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, and even Ant-Man and the Wasp. Pullman's character Bob is expected to be revealed as the MCU's version of the Sentry, one of the most powerful characters in the Marvel comics.
Marvel has also released the first poster for the film, with the appropriate tagline, "Careful Who You Assemble." It's clear that most of the film will deal with tensions between members of this new team. With most of the team comprising super-soldiers, it will be interesting to see how long it takes them to start asking questions before punching each other out.
Marvel Studios’ Thunderbolts* releases in theatres on May 2, 2025.
