FOX sets premiere date for season 37 of "The Simpsons," rest of fall schedule

FOX has revealed its fall schedule, which will debut in late September. It is, from a scripted perspective, pretty bleak. The network is delivering zero new scripted series this fall, and the schedule is heavily laden with game shows. Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday are all solely delivering reality shows, with only Tuesday and Sunday offering up scripted content.

Monday adds "Celebrity Weakest Link" to "Celebrity Name That Tune," because simply doing game shows doesn't suffice for FOX. No, it has to be celebrities playing game shows! Additionally, a new game show called "99 to Beat" is being paired with the inexplicable hit "The Floor." Tuesday gives us hour-long dramas in "Murder in a Small Town" and "Doc," but it is Sunday that stands out for FOX.

"The Simpsons" will debut its 37th season on Sunday, September 28. After that, "Universal Basic Guys" and "Krapopolis" will be hammocked between the other huge hit for FOX, "Bob's Burgers," to try and keep people watching the animation block. "Bob's Burgers" will be debuting its 16th season, and will deliver episode 300 during the season. "The Simpsons," meanwhile will drop episode 800 this season. Remarkable stuff.

If you are wondering, "What about 'Family Guy'?" fret not. The show hasn't been canceled. It, along with the returning "American Dad," will drop midseason in 2026. So will, get this, two new scripted shows. "Best Medicine" and "Memory of a Killer" are coming in time, presumably on Tuesdays. Oh, and FOX's reboot of "Fear Factor" will also debut in 2026. Can't have too much scripted programming, after all.
