Georgia QB Commit Jared Curtis Makes Final Decision After Vanderbilt Visit

Jared Curtis, the nation's No. 1 quarterback recruit in the 2026 class, has been committed to the Georgia Bulldogs football program since May of 2025. He's currently playing for Nashville Christian School, having already tallied 1,005 passing yards and 14 touchdowns, along with four rushing scores, this season.

The No. 4 overall player in the nation initially committed to Kirby Smart's Georgia back in March 2024. However, he reopened his recruitment in October of the same year before choosing the Bulldogs once again.

It was reportedly a fierce battle to get Curtis' commitment, with Eli Lederman of ESPN sharing that it went "down to the wire."

That being said, it's no surprise that there were some concerns about Curtis' commitment to Georgia when it was reported that he would be at FirstBank Stadium to watch the Vanderbilt Commodores play the Missouri Tigers.

Curtis is from Nashville, so there was speculation that his visit had some recruiting significance. Not to mention, the young QB was also at Vanderbilt for a practice on Wednesday.

Is Jared Curtis Decommitting From Georgia Again?

Fortunately, Curtis cleared the air before the rumors ran rampant. In an interview with Pete Nakos of On3 Sports, he emphasized that he's "100% committed" to Georgia, adding that he only visited Vanderbilt for "College GameDay."

"I was just going there for [College] GameDay," Curtis explained, referencing the fact that GameDay made its way to Nashville for the first time since 2008. "First time GameDay has been to Nashville in a while. Just there to visit and watch the game. At the end of the day, I’m still a Bulldog."

Curtis also shared what makes Georgia special in his eyes, stating that he likes Bulldogs offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach Mike Bobo.

"Coach Bobo was here last Friday. I talk to Coach Bobo pretty much every day. Really close to Coach Bobo, I enjoy talking to him and being around him. That’s part of the reason I’m at Georgia."

Kirby Smart Speaks Out on Jared Curtis, Vanderbilt

For what it's worth, Smart is not worried about Curtis' visit to Vanderbilt. When comedian Nate Bargatze — who served as the special guest picker for "College GameDay" over the weekend — tried to recruit Curtis to the Commodores, the Georgia head coach shared a strong and confident message.

"I don't get caught up in it much," Smart said on Monday, per "that SEC podcast" host Michael Bratton. "You know, I don't look at the stuff like that. We recruit the best job we can and sell what we have and talk to the kids and communicate with the kids that we talk to, and trust them for what they tell us and not get into gimmicks and propaganda stuff."
