Two stars from Guardians of the Galaxy are returning for upcoming Disney+ series Nova.

Glenn Close And John C. Reilly are reprising their roles as members of the Nova Corps, the intergalactic peacekeeping force first seen in the MCU in 2014’s Guardians of the Galaxy.

At least, that’s what’s been reported by industry insider MTTSH. Close plays head honcho Nova Prime Rael, while C. Reilly is further down the pecking order as Rhomann Dey. There’s just one problem.

Disney

Thanos destroyed the Nova Corps shortly before the events of Avengers: Infinity War. It’s not seen on screen, but the Corps were holding the Power Stone on their planet of Xandar, which Thanos forcefully claimed prior to the movie.

Nova was confirmed back in 2022. Marvel have been light on details since, so we’ve just got rumors to go for now, but we know it’s definitely happening. And so is Guardians of the Galaxy 4, which was teased for the first time.

Based on the Marvel comics hero of the same name, Nova is a sequel to Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. It’s not clear how Close and C. Reilly are back from the dead - there might be a multiversal explanation, or maybe they simply appear in flashbacks.

Nova, AKA Richard Rider, is a normal man recruited into the Nova Corps to fight crime and apprehending intergalactic criminals, all while unravelling a conspiracy in the heart of the Corps itself.
