Hailee Steinfeld made her mark on the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Kate Bishop in Hawkeye alongside Jeremy Renner's Clint Barton, and ever since, fans have been waiting to find out when they will see her next. While she did make a cameo in The Marvels, she was not part of the first cast announcement for Avengers: Doomsday.
"I wish I could say it all. I wish I knew it all," the actress expressed to Collider. "I think one of the greatest parts about being in the Marvel Cinematic Universe is that you yourself are along for the ride, and this is another character that I love so, so, so much and understand. I'm so grateful that Kate is a character that is so widely loved. I, as a fan, am so excited to see where she goes and to be a part in any and every way that is in store for her."
However, there is one person that she is hoping to reunite with: Florence Pugh. The two had amazing chemistry as Kate Bishop and Yelena Belova in Hawkeye, making their relationship a hit with everyone who watched.
"Well, first of all, she is a powerhouse," she said of Pugh. "She came on set — and I experienced this with Dickinson — where it's not particularly easy for someone to come in as a recurring or a guest starring role in that episode when you have built the foundation, and you're there every day, and you have your shorthand with people. And then somebody comes in — in the middle of two projects or right fresh off of another one, whatever it is — and really take their claim and hold their own. And that was no problem for Florence, nor do I think that ever has been or will be. But she is such a force."
She continued to explain, “One thing, too, that I learned in the world of TV versus film, things move a lot faster. So Florence came in, and we had these scenes that were very heavy on the dialogue, and so we got right to work with the dynamic and how we could make it sort of flow as best as it could. We hit it off immediately, and we just had the best time together.”
Moral of the story? "She’s wonderful. I would do anything to work more with Florence, especially in the Kate and Yelena world. I think we'd have a lot of fun," Steinfeld concluded.
Pugh has already been confirmed for Avengers: Doomsday and will next be seen reprising her MCU role in Thunderbolts*.
