Prime Video has just revealed some first-look images and an official premiere date for Lazarus, based on an original story idea and written by Harlan Coben and Danny Brocklehurst.
Harlan Coben’s Lazarus follows Joel Lazarus who returns home after his father Dr. Jonathan Lazarus dies by suicide and begins to have disturbing experiences that can't be explained. He quickly becomes entangled in a series of cold-case murders as he grapples with the mystery of his father's death and his sister's murder 25 years ago.
The thriller stars Sam Claflin as Joel Lazarus, Bill Nighy as Dr. Jonathan Lazarus, Alexandra Roach as Jenna Lazarus, David Fynn as Seth McGovern, Karla Crome as Bella Catton, and Kate Ashfield as Detective Alison Brown.
"Anyone who has ever seen or read a Harlan Coben story knows that there are some twists and turns and cliffhangers from chapter to chapter, episode to episode," Claflin told Entertainment Weekly.
He continued to express, "There are so many elements to it that kind of keep you wanting more," with Coben describing the ending as "a mind-blower."
As for what audiences can expect, the executive producer said that Joel returns home, to find "a strange patient" at his father's office, adding, "It leads to a mystery about who killed his father — maybe, and [maybe he] didn't actually die by suicide — and how is it connected to his sister's murder 24 years earlier and the murder of other people in their lives?"
In terms of who killed Joel's sister at prom and how it could be connected to the death of his father, Coben explained, "Those are the questions that had haunted Sam Claflin's character his entire life. He's never been able to get past it. He always felt like his father blamed him in part for his sister's murder. So all of these things, all these family dynamics and twisty mysteries are going to come together in an emotional explosion."
All six episodes will drop on Wednesday, October 22.
