‘High Potential’ Stars React to Midseason Move & Explain Why It’s Worth the Wait

High Potential‘s second season may have ended earlier this year, but fans will have to wait until 2027 to jump back into ABC‘s top-rated series as the network pushed its Season 3 debut to midseason.

But fret not, because the stars are revealing why it will be worth the wait. TV Insider caught up with Javicia Leslie and Deniz Akdeniz, who play LAPD detectives Daphne and Oz, on the red carpet at Disney’s Upfront presentation in New York City. As viewers recall, they both had some major showcases in Season 2, with Oz helping his mother tend to his father’s grave, and Daphne helping to hunt down the person who targeted her mentor.

As viewers prepare to settle in for the long wait surrounding Season 3, Leslie promises it’ll be worth it as she points out, “I think because I get threatened a lot about our show having to take off for holidays and other things like that, the best part of midseason is you get a more consistent schedule.”

In other words, fans can expect a more regular rollout of episodes, instead of weeks or even a month between episodes as they air, as they did on occasion with High Potential‘s most recent second season. “You don’t have to take off time to hang with your family or have family time,” Leslie jokes, adding with a laugh, “Forget that family, you can get High Potential every…”

“Every week,” Akdeniz chimes in, adding, “So, once we’re back, we’re gonna be going all throughout.” Meaning, fans can expect fewer hiatuses in between episodes, offering a more complete viewing experience.

Still, the move to midseason is certainly a shock as ABC aired the first two seasons with the fall slate. Stay tuned to see when High Potential‘s third season will air as we approach the new year,
