Hollywood star Olivia Wilde regrets Jordan Peterson comments

Olivia Wilde regrets calling Jordan Peterson a "pseudo-intellectual hero to the incel community".

The 42-year-old actress made the controversial comments about Peterson, the well-known psychologist and author, during the press tour for Don’t Worry Darling, the movie she directed, in 2022 - but Olivia has now expressed some regret, after Peterson broke down in tears in reaction to her comments during an interview with Piers Morgan.

During a recent appearance on The Louis Theroux Podcast, Olivia said: "[It] might have benn unfair for me to call [Peterson] a pseudo-intellectual."

The Hollywood star observed that the author "obviously thinks about things deeply, but I just feel that he operates in a way that is a buttoned-up version of the type of thinkers that lead to the Andrew Tates of the world. There are different layers to that community, some of whom speak more clearly the points they are all actually filtering through."

Despite this, Olivia still harbours concerns about Peterson's influence.

The actress-turned-director said: "My issue with Peterson is a lot of people who are not in any way misogynist have adopted this sanitised version of the same philosophy that’s rooted in deep misogyny and weaponized by the incel community.

"The basic point of it is entitlement to power. That is something that many men are struggling with … I was disturbed by what I saw as this misogyny that was being weaponised and leading us to elect Donald Trump twice and beyond that just empower these groups of people who I think are dangerous."

Peterson was reduced to tears by Olivia's comments and sought to clarify his position while speaking to Piers Morgan.

He said at the time: "It’s very difficult to understand how demoralised people are, and certainly many young men are in that category.

"You get these casual insults, these incels — what do they mean? These men, they don’t know how to make themselves attractive to women who are very picky, and good for them. Women, like, be picky. That’s your gift, man. Demand high standards from your men. Fair enough.

"But all these men who are alienated, it’s like they’re lonesome and they don’t know what to do and everyone piles abuse on them."
