This summer, take a trip to Italy with Fox’s first family. But this time around, forget “Eat, Pray, Love.” The Simpsons and its blue-haired matriarch, Marge (Julie Kavner), prove that an Italian vacation can quickly become “Cheat, Prey, Snuff.” Titled “Simpsley,” the streaming-exclusive special gives The Talented Mr. Ripley the Springfield treatment, sending Marge down a darkly hilarious path of deception and murder.
The episode is just one of several full-length, streaming-exclusive installments of The Simpsons. These standalone specials allow the long-running animated comedy to step outside its traditional format, taking on ambitious genre parodies and original stories that wouldn’t normally fit into a standard half-hour episode.
Here is everything you need to know, including how to watch the special episode and what it is about.
“Simpsley” begins streaming on Friday, July 3, at 3 am ET/12:00 am PT.
The new episodes continue Disney+’s growing collection of exclusive Simpsons content. All 36 seasons of The Simpsons, the feature film, the 10+ shorts featuring the Simpsons family, and more can be found in The Simpsons Collection on Disney+.
You can watch The Simpsons exclusive episode “Simpsley” starting July 3 by streaming it exclusively on Disney+. And no, you cannot watch “Simpsley” on Hulu.
While standard network episodes from The Simpsons air on Fox and stream the next day on Hulu, “Simpsley” is a streaming-exclusive episode funded and produced directly for Disney+. Because of this, it is locked strictly to the Disney+ platform.
The official logline for the episode reads: “When penniless con-artist Marge Bouvier is sent to Italy to convince wealthy sap Seymour Skinner (Harry Shearer) to come home, she’s tempted by the trappings of his affluent lifestyle. But there’s a big fat fly in the ointment: Skinner’s clingy, dim-witted mooch of a houseguest, Homer Simpsley (Dan Castellaneta). Lies, lust, and Italian lira are abound in this Disney+ exclusive Simpsons noir.”
