Mariah Carey drew attention at the Gucci Cruise fashion show in New York City over the weekend, but much of the online discussion centered less on her outfit and more on her carefully assisted entrance at the event.
According to Atlanta Black Star, the 57-year-old singer attended the GucciCore fashion presentation held in Times Square on May 16 alongside several celebrities and fashion industry figures. Carey arrived wearing a cream-colored Gucci coat paired with a black satin ensemble, accessorized with sunglasses, jewelry and black heels.
Videos circulating on social media showed assistants helping Carey remove her coat before she slowly lowered herself into her seat. The brief clip quickly sparked reactions online, with some fans expressing concern about the singer's stiff movements and apparent discomfort.
"She always looks like she is in pain lately," one user wrote on social media, while another commented, "I hope she's OK."
Others speculated whether the Grammy-winning artist may still be taking precautions years after suffering injuries from a serious fall on a music video set in 2013. Carey previously revealed she dislocated her shoulder, injured her ribs and experienced nerve damage after falling in high heels during the filming of a remix video for her song "Beautiful."
At the time, Carey acknowledged the severity of the incident in an interview with Extra, saying the injuries were more serious than initially believed.
The latest viral clip also revived similar conversations from previous public appearances. During her "Celebration of Mimi" Las Vegas residency in 2025, fans noted moments where backup dancers appeared to assist the singer while she moved across the stage. Similar observations surfaced after her appearance at the MTV Video Music Awards, where Carey was seen receiving help while descending stairs.
Despite online speculation, Carey appeared composed throughout the Gucci event and later changed into a second outfit for the fashion house's after-party at the Gucci Mansion. She wore a black fishnet-style dress with sheer details for the evening celebration.
The Gucci Cruise show marked the 70th anniversary of the luxury brand opening its first international boutique in New York City. Several celebrities participated in the event, including Paris Hilton, Cindy Crawford, Emily Ratajkowski and Tom Brady.
While fan concern continues circulating online, Carey has not publicly addressed the latest speculation surrounding her health or mobility.
