A major hit movie that has been at the center of a much-talked-about controversy for more than a year is set to leave Netflix soon. Users have less than a month to watch It Ends with Us on the streaming service before it is gone.

'It Ends with Us' Is Leaving Netflix on June 9, 2026

What's on Netflix's Kasey Moore has revealed the expansive list of shows and movies that will be leaving Netflix in America throughout June 2026. According to the outlet, It Ends with Us, the movie adaptation of Colleen Hoover's novel of the same name, will exit Netflix on June 9, 2026. That comes after the movie starring Blake Lively, Justin Baldoni, Jenny Slate, Hasan Minhaj, and Brandon Sklenar became a major hit.

Initially, It Ends with Us became a significant success at the box office when it was released in August 2024. Produced for an estimated $25 million, the movie made more than $351 million worldwide. When the film later premiered on Netflix in December 2024, it very quickly reached the top of the streaming giant's movie charts, according to Collider.

Why the Film Sparked So Much Controversy

Despite the extremely sensitive and serious nature of the story that It Ends with Us tells, the controversy that has followed the film for months has almost nothing to do with the movie's plot. Instead, the events surrounding the production of and promotion for the movie have been under intense online scrutiny. At times, it could arguably feel like virtually everyone was talking about the scandal that is still ongoing to this day.

The controversy surrounding the film really started when it was released and promoted in ways that left a lot of fans scratching their heads. Many observers were surprised by the breezy way a serious movie about domestic abuse was being promoted by some of the people involved, and Justin Baldoni’s absence from some events.

Things only got worse from there as accusations of inappropriate behind-the-scenes behavior surfaced and the movie's main stars, Blake Lively and Baldoni, sued each other. In the months since then, headlines and a massive amount of online commentary have focused on the movie's scandalous production. Ultimately, Baldoni's lawsuit was dismissed, many aspects of Lively's lawsuit were also dismissed, and the actors settled the remaining claims. Still, the matter isn't fully over, as arguments over legal fees and financial payments continue to garner headlines.

If you or someone you know has been a victim of domestic violence, help is available 24 hours a day through the National Domestic Violence Hotline at 800-799-7233.
