James Bond Role Hasn’t Been Offered to Aaron Taylor-Johnson (Yet)

Aaron Taylor-Johnson is NOT James Bond. Well, at least not yet.

Contrary to rumors, the Bullet Train star hasn’t been offered the role of 007. A “source with knowledge” tells E! News “he hasn't been offered the James Bond role—yet.”

While Taylor-Johnson is one of the frontrunners, along with Henry Cavill and Theo James, there’s no confirmation he’s signed on as the heir to Daniel Craig’s long-running super spy.

Craig played Bond for 15 years, from 2006’s Casino Royale to 2021’s No Time to Die, and is the longest-serving Bond in history. Since then, Bond producers have been on the search for the perfect man to fill his shoes in the 26th Bond film, but so far that search continues.

The last time Taylor-Johnson commented on the rumors was August 2023, when he told Esquire, "It's not really for me to say anything. I just focus on the things I can have my hands in right now. What's in front of me right now.”

The search for Bond has definitely stepped up in recent weeks, though, if Bond producer Barbara Broccoli’s previous comments are anything to go by.

During a private BFI event in 2022, as reported by E!, she said the next film will be "a reinvention of Bond. We're reinventing who he is and that takes time. I'd say that filming is at least two years away."

Two years on from 2022? That’s 2024. Expect the next Bond to be announced soon, but don't’ necessarily expect him to be Aaron Taylor-Johnson.
