Let’s be honest here – when Jason Momoa showed up in Fast X as the flamboyant villain Dante Reyes, he didn’t just steal scenes; he practically hijacked the entire franchise and made it his personal playground. The guy was serving looks, serving chaos, and serving up one of the most memorable villains the series had seen in years. So naturally, fans have been chomping at the bit to see more of his pink-nail-polish-wearing, revenge-obsessed maniac.

Jason Momoa’s Fast & Furious Future

But here’s where things get about as messy as Dom’s family tree: there’s literally nothing happening with Fast & Furious 11 right now. And I mean nothing. According to Bleeding Cool, when Jason Momoa was recently asked about his potential return to the franchise on the Bingeworthy podcast, his response was refreshingly honest – and probably not what Universal Pictures wanted to hear.

As Bleeding Cool reports, Jason Momoa revealed, “I would love to come back and play… people all over the world love that character, it’s crazy.” Sounds promising, right? Well, hold your NOS tanks because here comes the kicker. Collider reported that the Chief of War star clarifed his promosing statement, “But I got no script, so not that soon.”

Ouch. That’s gotta sting for a franchise that ended its last installment on one of the biggest cliffhangers in recent memory. We’re talking about Dom trapped on a booby-trapped dam, Jakob’s sacrifice, a plane full of “family” potentially crashed, and enough loose threads to weave a safety net for Vin Diesel’s next gravity-defying stunt. Plus it’s Jason Momoa, who wouldn’t want to see him to continue playing such a brash villian?

Fast X’s Expensive Gamble That May Not Pay Off

Here’s where things get really spicy. Fast X wasn’t just another popcorn blockbuster – it was a financial high-wire act that would make even the most death-defying Fast & Furious stunt look like a Sunday drive. The film managed to rake in about $705 million worldwide, which sounds impressive until you realize the production costs were around $340 million.

That’s not including marketing, distribution, and all the other behind-the-scenes expenses that make Hollywood accountants break out in cold sweats. Bleeding Cool pointed out that, “high costs have muted the impressive numbers, with Fast X’s production spending around $340 million.” That’s telling considering Fast X’s $705 global haul.

Fast X ended with enough unresolved plot threads to keep a soap opera running for decades. Dom’s in mortal peril, the family is scattered, and Dante is presumably still out there somewhere plotting his next revenge scheme. But all of that dramatic tension means absolutely nothing if there’s no script. The question is whether Universal Pictures is willing to roll the dice on another massively expensive production that might not recoup its costs.

Final Thoughts

Jason Momoa is ready and willing to return as Dante, fans are demanding it, and the character has enough potential to carry multiple storylines. But none of that matters if the studio isn’t willing to write the check. Until then, we’re all just sitting here waiting for a script that may never come, wondering if we’ll ever see the resolution to one of the franchise’s best cliffhangers. And honestly? That’s the most Fast & Furious thing of all.
