It was recently announced that Spike Lee and Denzel Washington will partner on a new rendition of a hit Kurosawa film.

Set to reimagine the 1963 crime thriller High and Low, Washington will star alongside Ilfenesh Hadera and the newly announced Jeffrey Wright for the collaboration between Apple and A24.

The 1963 film, loosely based on Evan Hunter's 1959 novel King's Ransom, follows an executive of a shoe company who becomes the victim of extortion when his chauffeur's son gets kidnapped by mistake and held for ransom.

Though who is playing who is still a secret, Wright makes for an exciting addition to the cast following his recent Academy Award nomination for his role in American Fiction.

Wright's career spans three decades, dating back to his first credit in 1990 on Alan J. Pakula's Presumed Innocence starring Harrison Ford. Since then, Wright has amassed over 80 credits, including roles in Wes Anderson's films Asteroid City and The French Dispatch, the role of Beetee in The Hunger Games saga and Matt Reeves' The Batman.

Further details on High and Low are to be confirmed, but production was set to commence this month.
