For those who came of age in the 1990s, American Gladiators was a staple of the early evening. You'd just come home from school, it wasn't quite dinner time, and in that liminal space, you could watch extremely fit people compete against people who were absolute units. The original American Gladiators ran from 1989 to 1996, and now, 30 years later, it's back.
Starting on April 17, 2026, streaming on Prime Video, the reality competition American Gladiators begins again with new Gladiators facing off against athletic hopefuls. And to get you fired up for every episode of the new show, Jelly Roll has contributed a brand-new song called "Rise Up," which will serve as the new AG theme song. You can hear the new song in the new American Gladiators trailer right here.
The new trailer for American Gladiators features many of the original challenges from the classic version of the show, including Joust, Powerball, Hang Tough, and The Wall. But there are also new events called The Ring and Collision. The show seems to be putting an emphasis on the stark reality of the events, with one Gladiator proclaiming, "This isn't choreography, it's combat."
Throughout the trailer, you can hear Jelly Roll's new song, "Rise Up," which will be played at the start of every new American Gladiators episode.
The new American Gladiators will debut with three episodes on Prime Video starting April 17, 2026. After that, new episodes will be released in blocks. The schedule for the entire ten episodes looks like this:
So, after May 1, you'll be able to binge the entire show, and thus, the entire competition, all at once. New Prime Video episodes tend to drop at 3:00 a.m. Eastern Time. So, starting very late on Thursday night, April 16, you should be able to start streaming the new American Gladiators.
Jelly Roll's "Rise Up" will be available exclusively from Amazon Music. You can pre-save the single here.
