Jenna Ortega teases a "whole episode based off of slashers" for 'Wednesday' season 2

Despite season 2 of Wednesday still not having a confirmed release date yet, star Jenna Ortega has been offering fans some fun teasers while promoting her new A24 film, Death of a Unicorn

The second season is set to premiere this year on Netflix, but they are currently still in editing: "I was doing ADR for it two weeks ago. That’s the funny thing about these jobs is you’re done, you wrap, but you’re not really done. So, I’ll probably be working on it until the end."

So what can fans expect in the new season? The actress, who plays the title character of Wednesday Addams, told Variety that there will be cinematic references from gothic and horror classics such as Beetlejuice, Carrie, and Prom Night. "Visually, I can say we have some of the most fun we’ve ever had," she expressed. There will even be a "whole episode based off of slashers" along with more "horror references."

Ortega continued to explain, "I feel like we kind of had a little bit more trust, and therefore, we felt like we could do bigger, more elaborate sequences, which is nice."

What isn't so nice is that along with Wednesday kicking some butt, she will "also gets her butt kinda kicked," which she revealed to Extra. "What really impressed me about this season is, I think, you really see Wednesday in a place where it doesn’t seem like she can win, which how could that ever be the possibility? I remember it was really strange to play and I was trying to find the most authentic way to play that," the actress said

As for season 3, the writers are "messing around and throwing out ideas," even though they have not officially been given the thumbs-up of a renewal. "With a show like that, you kind of want to get ahead of the game," she shared

Death of a Unicorn hits theaters on March 28.
