Ahead of Jennifer Kaytin Robinson's I Know What You Did Last Summer, returning star Jennifer Love Hewitt, who brings Julie James to life, is sharing a sweet note to fans of the iconic horror films.
"As it gets closer to you seeing the new I know What You Did Last Summer. I am in my feels. That girl who stood on the road is so different than the one who gets pulled back again. But I love them both so deeply. Young Julie and grown Julie. I hope you will too," she wrote on Instagram. "Thank you for being loud and wanting me back. I came back for you! I will always come back for you."
When five friends inadvertently cause a deadly car accident, they cover up their involvement and make a pact to keep it a secret rather than face the consequences. A year later, their past comes back to haunt them and they’re forced to confront a horrifying truth: someone knows what they did last summer…and is hell-bent on revenge. As one by one the friends are stalked by a killer, they discover this has happened before, and they turn to two survivors of the legendary Southport Massacre of 1997 for help.
Along with Hewitt, her OG co-star Freddie Prinze Jr. is coming back and reprising his role as Ray Bronson. New cast members of the legacy sequel will include Madelyn Cline, Chase Sui Wonders, Jonah Hauer-King, Tyriq Withers, Sarah Pidgeon, Billy Campbell, Gabbriette Bechtel, and Austin Nichols.
"When I heard it was happening, I think my honest reaction was, 'Oh my gosh. That’s great for them.' I never pictured them even asking me to do it," the actress expressed, while speaking with Extra TV. "I have confidence that the moms who are buying those tickets for their daughters to see the movie are there because they remember who Julie was, and they’re where I am now, and we carry that with pride."
In conclusion, "Their kids will love all the young people in the movie and I’m there for the moms."
I Know What You Did Last Summer will be released in theaters on July 18.
