Josh Peck got married to Paige O'Brien in 2017 but notably did not invite any of his Drake & Josh castmates. However, he did invite creator Dan Schneider, who Nickelodeon has since cut ties with due to reports of alleged abusive behavior on set. Schneider has denied those allegations.
Now, on the actor's Good Guys with co-host Ben Soffer and guest Drake Bell, he's explaining why. "The only person from the show that was there was Dan because my mom was friends with his wife," he shared. He credits the wedding as not only the thing that "blew everything up," but also being the "first step in us coming back together."
"It’s not an indictment of one particular person. I love you, I love Miranda [Cosgrove]," he expressed. "There’s so many people that I probably would, now at 38, [have] wanted there. But at 30, I just wanted to leave it all behind because it felt like it didn’t serve me anymore."
He continued to add, "The realization I had was when you wrote that stuff during my wedding about our friendship, all these things, our love, and our history. I think you were living in the world of where our relationship should have been. I was too much living in the past of when our relationship wasn't great, and it was really somewhere in the middle."
Bell had gone to Twitter to express his shock and hurt over not being invited, but further said to PEOPLE, "I was caught off guard. I hadn’t heard anything about it. He’s been my best friend for 18 years. In all honesty, we talk all the time, we’ve been talking. I was just expecting [an invite]."
Peck told him on the podcast, "But I think that was revealed to me and why we had so much of that because over those 10 years we saw each other like once a year. So when this stuff was coming out I’m like, 'What does he mean?' But now, I can see with all this time and everything that's been revealed of like, yeah, we should've been closer."
Drake & Josh aired from 2004 to 2007 with Peck and Bell starring as stepbrothers Josh Nichols and Drake Parker.
