Kabosu, The Doge Meme Dog, Sadly Dies at 18

It’s always sad to write an obituary, and it’s extra sad when the recipient is an adorable creature. But sadly, Kabosu, the dog who was the face of the Doge meme, has died, or as we prefer to say, crossed the rainbow bridge. For a while, Kabosu’s adorable Shiba Inu likeness was everywhere. Thanks to the Doge meme, the dog celebrated much fame.

While the Doge meme was used for all manner of purposes, happily, Kabosu seemed like one well-loved dog that was not concerned with any of that. Whether we knew the pup behind the meme or not, Kabuso’s face likely made it into our lives. And so we feel sad to know the Doge meme dog has died.

Kabuso’s owner shares, “Thank you all so much for loving Kabosu all these years. I am certain that Kabosu was the happiest dog in the world. That makes me the happiest owner in the world. I would like to express my deepest appreciation to everyone who has sent us much love to us.” Honestly, that sounds like the best outcome from the Doge meme to us. Aside from being known for the Doge meme, Kabuso was a rescue dog and very beloved. Hundreds of thousands of people followed her life.
