Keira Knightley thought a luxury cruise would be all cocktails and ocean views. She was wrong. Netflix’s 'The Woman in Cabin 10' shows just how dangerous a “dream vacation” can get.
Knightley stars as Lo, a travel journalist whose relaxing yacht trip takes a dark turn when she sees a passenger thrown overboard in the dead of night. The crew insists it never happened, but Lo isn’t convinced. As she digs deeper, the truth puts her own life on the line in a tense game of paranoia and survival.
'The Woman in Cabin 10' is basically 'Flightplan' on a yacht, and it looks like a thrilling ride. A luxury cruise, a missing passenger, and one journalist trying to prove what she saw. All the tension of a high-stakes mystery condensed into an isolated, floating setting. If you liked the claustrophobic intensity of 'Flightplan,' this one promises to deliver the same edge-of-your-seat suspense, but with waves, wind, and high society in the mix.
The movie is based on a bestselling novel we've admittedly never heard of, but that means it has a good chance of being pulpy fun. That's definitely the feel of the trailer. At this point in her career, Knightley is operating in this pulpy thriller space and doing it well. Her Netflix series "Black Doves" got a lot of love and many people were vocally disappointed that she didn't get an Emmy nomination for it.
'The Woman in Cabin 10' is directed by Simon Stone and the cast also includes Guy Pearce, Hannah Waddingham, David Ajala, Art Malik, Kaya Scodelario, David Morrissey, Daniel Ings, and Gugu Mbatha-Raw. The movie hits Netflix on October 10.
