Kendrick Lamar's epic Super Bowl LIX performance claims history as NFL's second-ever Emmy for a Super Bowl halftime show

Kendrick Lamar's Super Bowl LIX performance was truly epic, and now he's being rewarded for the show he put on.

Kendrick Lamar and Tony Russell scored an Emmy for "Outstanding music direction" on Sunday for The Apple Music Super Bowl LIX Halftime Show Starring Kendrick Lamar , which aired on Fox in February. During his performance, Kendrick brought out Samuel L. Jackson,  SZA, and Serena Williams, along with taking a shot at Drake by performing "Not Like Us."

Also nominated in the same category were The Kennedy Center Honors, The Oscars, SNL50: The Anniversary Special, and SNL50: The Homecoming Concert. Lamar was also nominated for Outstanding Variety Special (Live), he is joined by “Beyoncé Bowl” (Netflix), “The Oscars” (ABC), “SNL50: The Anniversary Special” (NBC), and “SNL50: The Homecoming Concert” (Peacock).

Beyonce Bowl Also Scores Emmy Win

Beyonce performed on Dec. 25 at halftime during a matchup between the Baltimore Ravens and the Houston Texans on Christmas Day. And this iconic performance is now known as "the Beyonce Bowl."

Along with Lamar's Super Bowl performance, the Beyonce Bowl won an Emmy for costumes for variety, nonfiction, or reality programming.
