In 1990, Kieran Culkin had a tertiary role in his brother Macaulay's breakthrough movie "Home Alone." He was to go easy on the Pepsi. Macaulay had a fine career, and seems to have enjoyed a left-of-center adult life while also getting a star on the Walk of Fame. However, it's Kieran who is now an Oscar winner.
Culkin won Best Supporting Actor at the Oscars for "A Real Pain." This was the most "coronation" of any award given out during the event. That's probably why it opened the festivities. Culkin had been winning every precursor award, and then it all played out as expected when Robert Downey Jr. said his name.
While Culkin has had to give a litany of speeches, he still managed to deliver during his speech at the Academy Awards. Well, at least in terms of what the home audience heard, as the sound was muted for a period of time based on Culkin's word choice. He also used his win as a jumping-off point to have a fourth child with his wife, who was a fine foil for the speech.
Culkin has now won at the Emmys for "Succession" and is an Oscar winner. May he enjoy all the Pepsi he desires.
