Latest Spike Lee and Denzel Washington collab 'Highest 2 Lowest" releases first trailer

If it works, it works. The fifth collaboration between Denzel Washington and Spike Lee will be 'Highest 2 Lowest' and the film released its first trailer. It's got a lot going for it. A two-time Oscar winner! An acclaimed director with an extensive filmography! Together again! Also, A$AP Rocky is there! Here's the "Highest 2 Lowest" trailer.

One assumes most people are thinking about this as the latest Denzel Washington movie and not as Spike Lee's adaptation of Akira Kurosawa's "High and Low." Is this an Oscar play? It doesn't necessarily feel like that, but more of a Spike Lee film in the vein of, say, "Inside Man." It's also an A24 movie that is also an Apple Studios movie. "Highest 2 Lowest" will hit theaters August 15, but it will start streaming on Apple TV+ on September 5.

While not obviously Oscar bait, Washington could still get an Oscar nomination and without question will bring attention to the film. This is a guy who managed to net nominations for "Flight" and "Roman J. Israel, Esq," so if he's acting, he's in the awards mix.
