LeBron James reveals ‘crazy’ Leonardo DiCaprio meeting that featured an Al Pacino surprise

Being a celebrity has its perks, as Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James recalled a dinner that featured Leonardo DiCaprio and Al Pacino.

Speaking to ESPN, James recalled having dinner with DiCaprio in Beverly Hills. While he doesn’t recall the origins of their relationship, conceding, “I don’t remember how our connection started. I don’t know if Mav [Carter] set that up, I have no idea. But I just showed up and Leo was there.”

DiCaprio spilled the beans about Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, which he hadn’t even filmed yet. The night took a turn when Pacino “showed up” and spent time with them.

James was wowed by meeting Pacino. He picked his brain about one of his favorite movies, The Godfather, and other projects, saying Pacino “was super surprised that I knew that much about those movies.”

While he doesn’t get “starstruck,” he knows Pacino is “one of the greatest actors of all time.” He loves The Godfather, so meeting Pacino (and DiCaprio) was something he’ll never forget.

When did LeBron James meet Leonardo DiCaprio and Al Pacino?

It sounds like James met DiCaprio and Pacino before the filming of Once Upon a Time in Hollywood. That movie was released in 2019, so the dinner had to have taken place before then.

The trio was spotted at dinner on Wednesday, July 11, 2018. Presumably, that is when this meeting occurred, unless they’ve dined together several times.

This timeline would make sense, since James joined the Lakers heading into the 2018-19 NBA season. He has remained in Los Angeles for the subsequent seven seasons, leading them to one championship.

Currently, the Lakers are up 3-1 on the Houston Rockets in their first playoff series. They were up 3-0 before losing Game 4 in Houston. Now, they have a chance to end the series in front of their home crowd on Apr. 29.
