Tonight’s episode of Love Island wasn’t as impactful as the last two, but I believe there’s a lot of clarity about how the final episodes are going to go. Ultimately, who’s going to win and which four couples will make the final were made crystal clear. But also, movie night is happening tomorrow, so there’s going to be a lot that’s disrupted, but it seems that we’re reaching a natural conclusion point with this season.
Let’s discuss it.
So I went viral for sharing my thoughts on how Aniya and KC’s brief relationship unfolded in the first couple of weeks of Love Island, before Casa Amor. I also shared my thoughts on the discourse surrounding him, how toxic it became, and how, quite frankly, it ruined my Love Island experience. And when I said it ruined my experience, it ruined my enjoyment of the conversations around the show.
There are things I won’t always agree with, but ultimately, we kept the conversation within the bounds of who these folks are on screen before the past week and a half. But the characterization of KC just felt nasty to me when, up to this point, we hadn’t seen a lot of him on the show. But there has to be something that production is not showing us, because why is it that every time the girls huddle up, they’re talking about how much of a little boy KC is and how much of a man Carl is, by contrast?
What we’ve been shown on the screen does not back up the discourse around KC from the Love Island fandom, but also the discussions and actions towards KC from the “Core 4.”

And I found it interesting that Aniya is willing to go whatever speed that Carl is on, but didn’t want to meet KC halfway where he was. It’s her prerogative what she wants to do when she has free will, but we’re seeing in real time how she was willing to make concessions for Carl that she was never going to make for KC. And she’s known Carl for less time than she’s known KC, which was one of the things he pointed out as a problem.
I’m actually happy that their relationship seems to now be over because they clearly aren’t aligned in where they are as people. They aren’t compatible, and I think it’s for varying reasons. KC couldn’t get over the fact that there was nobody behind his door, and that he didn’t get the full Love Island experience that he’s seen islanders such as Gabriel Sincere—albeit in a very different way—and Corbin have had the opportunity to do. I don’t think the exploration that he wanted was innately sexual but he wanted a level of intimacy that Aniya wasn’t ready to give him.
Aniya, on the other hand, has a very particular standard for how she judges KC and has no problem putting him down to her girls and also in mixed company. The fact that KC is taking it in stride really says a lot, because to consistently be derided—not just by Aniya, but by other islanders and even Megan Thee Stallion in her special guest appearance—would leave a lot of people ready to either snap or break down. But he’s just chilling, which I think is incredibly interesting.
And also, he hasn’t said anything overtly negative about Aniya since he brought back Tierra; he’s just continuing to progress in his relationship with her.
The Final Conversation
The conversation with KC and Aniya was really frustrating to watch for multiple reasons. For one, I don’t like how KC wasn’t truly confident in pulling her for the chat, as well as standing on how he feels and what he says. I don’t know if he was edited that way, but I just think that he needs to speak with more conviction and stand on what he believes. If he feels he didn’t do anything wrong and wasn’t disrespectful, he should say so, but I felt like he was shrinking in that moment.
And for Aniya, I’m just really curious because I want to know what KC did to her that was so bad. I’m not even talking about the recoupling itself, because I can understand how that would feel—to be in a connection with someone on the show and then they brings back someone else. I can understand that. But it seems as if there was something building before that, which is even deeper than the Sol situation, where KC was attracted to her but didn’t explore it, festered even after Sol left the villa. It just seems like there’s something so much deeper that’s not truly being confronted on the surface, and I really wish we could.
But, I legitimately feel like I’m losing my mind watching this show sometimes. All of my logic on relationships and human interactions is thrown out of the window every night. The criticism flew fast and heavy at me from several fellow viewers in the Love Island fan base for not understanding the broader issue between Aniya and KC and why Aniya harbors these feelings of resentment towards him.
This is the most confusing television experience I’ve ever had, because what is really going on, and what did this man do? What is production not showing us? If production showed me what really was going on. I’d be swift in my criticism of him. I had no problem criticizing Taylor for his approach with Olandria last year and wasn’t a big fan of Austin.
But I just don’t see it. It’s not because I’m stubborn, dismissive, unempathetic, or that I don’t want to see it. I’m blaming production more than anything. But I can only react to what’s on my screen.
She was very pointed and charged in that conversation with him, and KC didn’t reciprocate that energy. But, at the same time, KC he wasn’t really confident in what he was saying. He didn’t present himself well at all and shrunk in the one moment where he could’ve properly defended himself and explained his actions.
I just really want to know what the disconnect is, because we’re clearly not seeing it. Maybe Movie Night will provide that for us. Or it won’t, and KC is going to get excoriated and ultimately voted out of the villa with Tierra, but either way, I just really want more clarity.
So, after two rather explosive episodes, Episode 24 shifts the focus a bit from KC and Aniya to Sincere, Melanie, and the return of Amora. For the life of me, I don’t understand how Sincere has been able to make it on Love Island and not have his lies and manipulation to now three women on the show truly spotlighted and discussed. We see on camera him flip-flopping and telling the women whatever he feels as if he needs to advance his agenda, yet there barely is any discourse about it.
But I don’t blame the fans of the show, because Melanie also does the same thing. The fact that she’s routinely been shown red flags from Sincere, yet she still has continued to give him chance after chance unconditionally, is rather odd to me. And it’s especially odd after how she characterized KC and threw pejorative after pejorative at him, characterizing who he is as a man, his actions, and how she perceived he’s treated Aniya in their separate relationship.
But Sincere has consistently played with her, and she even was notified of this by several of the men during the Casa Amor twist. Amora and Trinity also gave her a perspective from the other villa. And she still decides to stand beside him. At a point, it feels incredibly hypocritical. She’s deciding to step back into the relationship with someone that continues to be dishonest and play with her emotions.
It makes me wonder. Is she playing it safe? Does she have the $100,000 on her mind? Or is she really willing to put up with major disrespect from the guy that she’s coupled up with—the very same behavior she’s imploring Aniya to not put up with? It’s very interesting because it seems as if, for a lot of the women in the villa, they’re throwing stones in a glass house.
It’s crazy because Sincere is admitting that he has been dishonest, yet no one says a word, and he ultimately always finds his way back to the person that he’s being dishonest with. The only person that has ever held him accountable is Sol. And Sol isn’t a neutral party here because she presented her own level of issues, specifically when she left the villa with how she spoke about both Aniya and KC. Still, her calling Sincere out was refreshing.
I know we’re pretty far away from the season finale of Love Island, It’s so clear that Bryce and Trinity are about to win.
Prior to this episode, there hasn’t been one single solitary date on this season, not even with the bombshells. But, all of a sudden, Bryce and Trinity are the first islanders to go off the island on a date.
Do we not think that sending Aniya and KC on a date might have smoothed things over between them and given them the opportunity to build a stronger relationship if they had had the chance to talk one-on-one without the animosity? There are other islanders that could have used a date up to this point, but we’re almost in July, and Bryce and Trinity have the first date. They’re winning the show.
Now, what’s interesting is they’ve been pretty much side characters to KC and Aniya, as that specific dynamic has taken over the show in many ways. Melanie and Sincere’s back-and-forth relationship has also captivated attention. So they’ve largely flown under the radar.
But Trinity is perfectly showcasing herself as the girl’s girl that’s gonna speak her mind and hold people accountable, especially the men. This fanbase loves that archetype of islander. And Bryce is pretty unassuming and visibly inoffensive, though it’s clear he’s making moves to put himself in the proper position to win this show. And it goes back to my broader point about the shifting standard on Love Island, both from the Islanders and the fan base.
Trinity and Bryce literally did not do significant exploration outside of Casa Amor. Sure, Bryce tried to shoot his shot at Kayda, but outside of that, they remain largely paired up, but for them it’s fine. For everyone else, it’s a problem. That’s the inconsistency with this show. But as we often say, you can’t hate the player; hate the game.
Unless something drastically changes, we all need to just coronate Trinity and Bryce right now because they’re absolutely the next winners of the show. The votes will fall in line, and production will make sure we see them as winners in our minds.
