Artificial intelligence is not new fodder for pop culture, but as it becomes less science fiction and more a part of life, that's only going to increase. Director Lucas Guadagnino, behind movies such as "Call Me By Your Name" and "Challengers," is helming "Artificial" for Amazon MGM. Written by humorist and "SNL" alum Simon Rich, the movie is a "comedic drama set in the world of artificial intelligence." The film is also rounding out an impressive cast, with a couple notable names joining recently.
Yura Borisov, who was destined for bigger things after earning an Oscar nomination for "Anora," was already in the cast. Andrew Garfield, an Oscar nominee in his own right, has joined as well. This was already rumored, but it has since become official. It's not a surprise that is the case, given that Garfield is in Guadagnino's movie "After the Hunt," which is coming out this October.
Soon after Garfield became official, it was also announced Copper Koch had signed on for "Artificial." There's a good chance that by the time you read this Koch has secured the inevitable Emmy nomination for his turn as Erik Menendez in "Monsters."
There shall be no laurel resting, though. The next rumored actor to join "Artificial" is Monica Barbaro, who also is coming off an Oscar nomination, hers for "A Complete Unknown." Throw in Guadagnino's involvement, and is definitely feels like "Artificial" could be an Oscars player.
