Melissa McCarthy calls co-starring with Octavia Spencer in new 'Thunder Force' movie a 'fever dream'

For Melissa McCarthy and Octavia Spencer, the most challenging part of the Thunder Force script may be having to pretend they haven't always loved each other.

Thunder Force is a Netflix action comedy co-starring McCarthy and Spencer as estranged childhood best friends who reconnect after one develops a formula that gives them superpowers. The project, due April 9, was directed and written by McCarthy's husband, Ben Falcone.

In real life, the powerhouse actresses' friendship has been going strong for decades.

"Working with someone you've known for over two decades is the best," McCarthy told People. We had the greatest time on set. I can't believe two girls who waited in line for The Price Is Right 20 years ago got to run around in superhero suits fighting and winning against the bad guys. It felt like a fever dream."

The Thunder Force cast includes Jason Bateman, Bobby Cannavale, Pom Klementieff, Melissa Leo and Taylor Mosby.
