Michael B. Jordan's "Thomas Crown Affair" won't be out until 2027

"Sinners" is fully at the center of the movie landscape right now. It's a hit and a conversation topic in ways both interesting and a little frustrating. Plus, we've run out of things to say about "A Minecraft Movie" and what is there to say about "The Accountant 2" beyond, "Huh...sure, why not?"

Amazon MGM Studios has done the smart thing and used this moment to announce when its remake of "The Thomas Crown Affair" starring "Sinners" star Michael B. Jordan is coming out. That's even though it's not for a couple of years.

"The Thomas Crown Affair" is not merely starring Jordan as Crown alongside Taylor Russell. The actor is also directing the film, after previously directing "Creed III." This adaptation was also written by Drew Pearce, who most-recently wrote the solid action-comedy "The Fall Guy." While Amazon, through its MGM brand, is behind this movie, it is getting a theatrical run, and it has even grabbed some IMAX screens in the process. That's a lot of buy-in for Jordan, which feels earned at this time.

When will you be able to see "The Thomas Crown Affair" in theaters. That would be March 5, 2027. So yeah, there's a bit of a wait here. Still, we're pretty sure Jordan will still be a legit movie star in a couple years.

This will actually be the third take on "The Thomas Crown Affair." In a rare circumstance, it's the remake from 1999 that is considered the best, most-popular version. We agree with that. With all due respect to the 1968 original starring Steve McQueen and Faye Dunaway, it's kind of a snooze. It's a decent movie, and we aren't afraid of the pace of film common to the past. We'll watch characters walk to and from their car all the live long day! That first "Thomas Crown" just lacks for oomph and substance, and it drags for stretches.

Meanwhile, the Pierce Brosnan/Rene Russo movie directed by action maestro John McTiernan, rips. All killer, no filler. That movie gives Jordan a lot to live up to. He's certainly no McTiernan at this point in his career. Well, he's got some time to get things figured out, and we'll see the end result in March of 2027.
