The debut trailer for V/H/S/Beyond has landed, and there’s something for everyone in this much-hyped horror anthology.

Containing six different, smaller horror films in total, each segment is written and directed by one of seven teams. The premise centers on characters who discover a collection of tapes that tell a self-contained story. “Six bloodcurdling tapes unleash horror in a sci-fi-inspired hellscape, pushing the boundaries of fear and suspense,” writes streaming service Shudder in its official synopsis.

One of these segments is Stowaway. Helmed by Kate Siegel in her directorial debut, it stars well-known video game writer and streamer Alanah Pearce as a woman whose obsession with finding evidence of alien life drives her to make a haunting discovery deep in the desert. Early buzz suggests it’s a star-making role for the acting newcomer. Pearce’s castmates include Philip Andre Botello, Dane DiLiegro, Jolene Anderson, and Mike Ferguson.

V/H/S/Beyond is the eighth installment in the long-running found-footage franchise, which debuted in 2012. The most recent one, V/H/S/85, arrived last year on Shudder. Where that leaned into retro scares, V/H/S/Beyond’s theme pushes more into sci-fi-inspired horror.

Mike Flanagan (Doctor Sleep, The Haunting of Hill House), and Justin Long (Jeepers Creepers, Tusk) are credited as writers on V/H/S/Beyond. Next for Flanagan is writing and directing The Life of Chuck, a sci-fi film starring Marvel actors Tom Hiddleston (Loki) and Karen Gillan (Nebula) based on Stephen King's popular novel.

V/H/S/Beyond premiers on Shudder on October 4. V/H/S/85 is now streaming on AMC.
