During Netflix Tudum 2025: The Live Event, the release date for Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery was finally revealed! Fans also got a new sneak peek as a fun "save the date" for Rian Johnson's third Benoit Blanc whodunnit.
The cast includes Daniel Craig, Josh O'Connor, Glenn Close, Josh Brolin, Mila Kunis, Jeremy Renner, Kerry Washington, Andrew Scott, Cailee Spaeny, Daryl McCormack, and Thomas Haden Church.
"We've been very lucky with each of these movies to have gathered some of my favorite actors on the planet, and that's absolutely the case here," the writer/director told TUDUM. "They're also all lovely folks who get along, which is the dinner party aspect of it. When you're making an ensemble movie like this, I think that's key."
"It really feels like summer camp for movie-making," Washington expressed to PEOPLE . "I'm just so really honored that [director Rian Johnson] came to me for this role, ... and I'm thrilled that I'm going to get to work with some old friends like Glenn Close, who I've known forever ... and also Josh Brolin is an old friend, and some new friends, like Josh O'Connor."
The franchise started with 2019's Knives Out, which introduced us to Craig's detective. He then reprised the role in Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery, which premiered in 2022. The plot for Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery is still unclear, but it is being described as Blanc's "most dangerous case yet."
The actor would like the movie to have a theatrical release that is longer than a week, explaining to Variety, "Hopefully, Netflix will push it out a bit, and people will get to see it. The people I speak to — the fans, I suppose — all they want to do is take their families and go see it at the cinemas. That’s all they want to do. Hopefully we can give them that experience."
Mark your calendars for December 12.
