Netflix has unceremoniously cancelled its Jeff Goldblum-starring comedy drama, Kaos.

No sooner had it premiered on the streaming service in September than Netflix announced plans not to greenlight a second season. It’s unfortunately a one-and-done for the Greek mythology inspired show.

In it, Goldblum stars as Zeus, an arrogant but insecure God who’s keeping fellow immortal Prometheus chained to a rock, just as in the Greek legend. Through the course of Kaos, we follow Prometheus (Game of Thrones’ Stephen Dillane) as he seeks to overthrow Zeus with the help of three humans.

Netflix hasn’t said why it’s cancelling the show, but poor viewership is usually the culprit, and the streamer would have no incentivise to share those numbers with the public. That will come as a shame to fans of the show, which had an impressive cast.

It features David Thewlis as Hades, Billie Piper as Cassandra, Suzy Eddie Izzard as Lachesis, Cliff Curtis as Poseidon, and Janet McTeer as Hera. Kaos managed an 76% on Rotten Tomatoes, but that’s not high enough for Netflix to justify Kaos season 2.
