Netflix confirms 'KPop Demon Hunters' sequel film, directors to return
KPOP DEMON HUNTERS Sequel Set for 2029 on Netflix_1 Netflix/Sony Animation

We have some news that will not surprise anyone, unless they have been living under a rock. According to Deadline, Netflix has confirmed a sequel to KPop Demon Hunters with Maggie Kang and Chris Appelhans to return as directors. To say that this animated film was a massive hit for the streamer is a massive understatement. It is Netflix’s most-watched movie EVER and nominated for a Best Animated Feature Oscar that it will surely win.

If you have kids, you’re very familiar with the Huntrix collective and their catchy songs. “With KPop Demon Hunters, Maggie and Chris didn’t just reach audiences, they ignited a global fandom that crossed languages, generations and genres,” Netflix Chief Content Officer Bela Bajaria said in a statement. “We’re incredibly proud to deepen our partnership with them and, together with our partners at Sony Pictures Animation, build this universe in ways that will surprise and delight fans all over the world.

Of course, it will be a while before we see this KPop Demon Hunters sequel. Animation tends to move slower with production than live-action, with previous assumptions that the film wouldn’t come out until 2029. If Netflix and these creators are smart, they will expedite the process as much as possible to ride this wave of popularity.
