If you’re ready to kick off the Halloween season early, Netflix will release its new animated horror-comedy ‘Haunted Hotel’ on Sept. 19. If you’re into cartoon-style gore mixed with comedy, this one might be for you. Check out the official trailer for ‘Haunted Hotel’ below:
The show follows a single mom with two kids who takes over a spooky hotel that turns out to be very haunted. One of the ghosts is her brother, adding another layer of family drama to the mix, along with plenty of other supernatural creatures. Will Forte, Eliza Coupe and Jimmi Simpson lead the voice cast.
‘Haunted Hotel’ was created by Matt Roller, whose credits include live-action work as well as adult animation such as ‘Krapopolis,’ ‘Archer’ and ‘Rick and Morty.’ The executive producer list also features several ‘Rick and Morty’ veterans, including Dan Harmon. The trailer even name-drops ‘Rick and Morty’ outright.
It’s clear Netflix is aiming for a ‘Rick and Morty’-style tone with ‘Haunted Hotel.’ The trailer shows a blend of chaos, raunchy humor and over-the-top violence. While ‘Rick and Morty’ can be divisive, its fan base is passionate — and those fans will likely give ‘Haunted Hotel’ a try. Maybe you will, too.
