Netflix drops trailer for 'Sirens' starring Julianne Moore and Meghann Fahy

Netflix just shared the official trailer for Sirens, which is based on Molly Smith Metzler's play, Elemeno Pea . The cast includes Julianne Moore, Meghann Fahy, Milly Alcock, Kevin Bacon, Glenn Howerton, Felix Solis, and Bill Camp.

Devon thinks her sister Simone has a really creepy relationship with her new boss, the enigmatic socialite Michaela Kell. Michaela’s cult-ish life of luxury is like a drug to Simone, and Devon has decided it’s time for an intervention, but she has no idea what a formidable opponent Michaela will be. Told over the course of one explosive weekend at The Kells’ lavish island estate, Sirens is an incisive, sexy, and darkly funny exploration of women, power, and class.

"This story has a lot of teeth," Metzler told TUDUM. "There are real moments of drama, and it’s going to make people uncomfortable. Operatic is a word I like to use to describe it. It’s a true dark comedy — and it’s got a Greek mythology vibe."

Fahy stars as Devon, who Smith Metzler considers to be  "the metronome of the show," commenting, "She sets the pace, and especially the comedy. Casting Meghann was a gift from the heavens."

The actress describes the dark comedy as "a show about relationships and the way people desperately try to outrun their past." She continued to explain, "We watch Simone run desperately away from who she is and who she really wants to be seen as. Devon becomes embarrassed. Simone starts calling out all of Devon’s bad habits, bad relationships, and the way that she mistreats herself."

As for Moore, she plays Michaela, and the series creator and executive producer expressed, "Julianne’s just the dream for this role because she does feel ethereal. She’s from another kingdom. She is not a normie."

Sirens will be released on May 22.
