Netflix to Remove 'Dispatches From Elsewhere' Starring Jason Segel on June 4

As part of its monthly housekeeping, Netflix will be removing six AMC shows from its library during June.

One of those shows is Dispatches From Elsewhere, a 2020 series created by and starring Jason Segel. The anthology drama, which ran for only one season and 10 episodes, is based on The Institute, a 2011 documentary about the The Jejune Institute, an alternate reality experience which ran in San Francisco from 2008-11.

According to What's on Netflix's Kasey Moore, Dispatches From Elsewhere will exit Netflix on June 4.

Other AMC shows leaving the platform next month include Brockmire, 61st Street, Moonhaven, The Red Road and TURN: Washington’s Spies.

What to know about Dispatches From Elsewhere

Segel (How I Met Your Mother, Knocked Up, Forgetting Sarah Marshall) was the brains behind Dispatches From Elsewhere, as well as one of the series' biggest stars.

The show is described as "about a group of ordinary people who stumble onto a puzzle hiding just behind the veil of everyday life."

"They will come to find that the mystery winds far deeper than they ever imagined," Deadline wrote in 2018.

Based in Philadelphia, Dispatches From Elsewhere focuses on Peter (Segel), Fredwynn (Andre 300), Simone (Eve Lindley), Octavio Coleman, Esq. (Richard E. Grant) and Janice Foster (Sally Field) and their dealings with a number of puzzles.

Overal, Dispatches From Elsewhere garnered solid reviews, including an 84% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes, 6.8/10 on IMDB and 66 out of 100 ("generally favorable") on Metacritic.

Unfortunately, despite Segel indicating he would have been open to continuing the series, the show was ended after one season. Besides Netflix, Dispatches From Elsewhere is currently available on a number of platforms, including Pluto TV, Sling TV, Philo, The Roku Channel, AMC+, YouTube and Amazon Prime Video
