New 'Outlander: Blood of my Blood' trailer sets up new romance

STARZ has shared the key art and official trailer for Outlander: Blood of my Blood, the stand-alone prequel series that includes a new cast, characters, and stories. This allows audiences who have not discovered the beloved Outlander universe to be swept away by the epic romance saga, while also honoring longtime fans by giving them the origin stories of fan-favorite characters from earlier seasons.

From the battlefields of World War I to the rugged Highlands of 18th century Scotland, two fated couples must defy the forces that seek to tear them apart, intersecting in surprising and unforeseen ways.

After 11 years of epic romance on the groundbreaking series “Outlander,” the timeless tale continues -- or rather begins -- on the eve of an earlier Jacobite rebellion. A prequel to “Outlander,” the series explores the lives and relationships of two couples as they fight against all odds to be together: the parents of “Outlander’s” Claire Randall -- Julia Moriston (Hermione Corfield) and Henry Beauchamp (Jeremy Irvine); and those of “Outlander’s” Jamie Fraser -- Ellen MacKenzie (Harriet Slater) and Brian Fraser (Jamie Roy).

Along with Corfield, Irvine, Slater, and Roy, the show stars Tony Curran as Simon Fraser, Lord Lovat, Séamus McLean Ross as Colum MacKenzie, Sam Retford as Dougal MacKenzie, Rory Alexander as Murtagh Fitzgibbons Fraser, and Conor MacNeill as Ned Gowan.

Executive producers include showrunner Matthew B. Roberts, Ronald D. Moore, Maril Davis, and Jim Kohlberg. Sony Pictures Television produces.

Outlander: Blood of my Blood will premiere on Friday, August 8. New episodes will then air weekly, Fridays at 8 PM ET/PT on STARZ in the U.S. and 9 PM ET/PT in Canada. Additionally, episodes will be available to stream weekly on Fridays on the STARZ app as well as STARZ streaming and on-demand platforms.
