The hope infused trailer for the new A24 film, Sing Sing, dropped back in March, and now the indie studio has given us a brand new first-look teaser featuring the cast and crew diving deeper into what went into the making of this heartfelt film.
"Sing Sing is really just about brotherhood more than anything," Colman Domingo, who stars as Divine G, says.
Greg Kwedar's film follows Domingo's character — who is incarcerated for a crime he did not commit — as he finds purpose through the theatre group at the prison.
Domingo speaks of his co-star, Clarence Maclin, who was formerly incarcerated and plays himself in the movie, saying, "Immediately, we connected so well. It was really beautiful, and funny and organic. He felt like one of my brothers."
Maclin returned the praise, saying, "Working with Colman Domingo was an absolute pleasure, man, and a delight. The brother is a ball of positive energy. He saw in me things that I didn't see in myself."
Kwedar spoke to the film's uniqueness, revealing, "Everyone on the movie collectively owns the movie. So, all of our cast who are formerly incarcerated have literal ownership of their own story."
Sing Sing is heading to theaters on August 2.
