It's official: the Pogues will return for their final adventure next year! Production in Charleston, SC, has begun on the fifth and last season of Netflix's Outer Banks. Chase Stokes, Madelyn Cline, Madison Bailey, Jonathan Daviss, Drew Starkey, Carlacia Grant, Austin North, and Fiona Palomo will all be back to reprise their roles.
J. Anthony Crane and Cullen Moss will both be upped to series regulars.
"We are over the moon to be setting out on one last trip with the Pogues," creators Josh Pate, Jonas Pate, and Shannon Burke told Tudum. "Being back on set with our cast for this final round is nothing short of bittersweet and surreal. We can't wait to show everyone what we have in store this season — it's going to be a wild ride…"
One of our beloved Pogues was lost in the feature-length season 4 finale, so it is expected that the storyline will not only continue the treasure hunt for the Blue Crown, but also seek revenge for JJ Maybank's murder.
"I think when you have a character that you've grown with, and you've watched your career flourish with, it's bittersweet because it's a safety, it's somebody that I care so deeply about and where he's like an alternate personality for me at this point, and it started with him being on the page, and now I have the beautiful conversations with our writers and they're like, 'What do you think you would do in this situation?' So it's gone from just getting hired to do the job, to now being really involved with the process in a lot of different ways," Stokes explained to ScreenRant. "And I'm grateful for that because I've learned so much as an artist and as a filmmaker. But I think it's not how the plane takes off, it's how you land it."
Outer Banks season 5 is slated for 2026.
