Panty and Stocking Season 2 Hints Intriguing Sequel

The anime Panty and Stocking with Garterbelt follows the raunchy adventures of two fallen angels. Their job is to exterminate Ghosts and earn their way back into Heaven. However, the demon sisters, Scanty and Kneesocks, often cause trouble for them.

New Panty and Stocking with Garterbelt begins immediately after the previous series. The demon Corset brainwashes Stocking into becoming evil, compelling her to strike down Panty. Luckily, Brief, Chuck, and Garterbelt revive Panty with help from Scanty and Kneesocks. And the sister angels immediately get into a smackdown that nearly levels Daten City.

Panty and Stocking soon resume their duty of destroying Ghosts and obtaining Heaven coins. But now, they’re joined by Scanty and Kneesocks, who’re working their way back into Hell. Things eventually become complicated with the arrival of the next-gen angels, Polyester and Polyurethane. Everything leads up to Panty and Stocking’s uncle Ramie usurping the throne of Heaven. And it’s up to the entire team to stop him from destroying Earth and Hell.

Finale Alludes to Possible Sequel

Many incredible moments occurred throughout the finale of New Panty and Stocking with Garterbelt. One of the most impactful of all happened at the very end. Stocking, now in Garterbelt’s position, is addressing two individuals, Junior and Bastard. One is the son of Brief and Panty, and the other is a female demon. And Stocking sends them out to locate Junior’s parents, who went missing some time ago.

The scene concludes with a “To be continued” message, possibly hinting at a sequel series. If so, the next Panty and Stocking show could focus on the next generation. This revelation also means Junior and Bastard are Daten City’s new resident Ghost hunters. And they’ll be searching for the absent Brief and Panty, alongside having other adventures. We might even get appearances from the other still-surviving characters from the previous two programs.

Of course, these speculations only hold ground if this supposed sequel happens. The Panty and Stocking shows tend to be a little wonky with their continuity. Yet, the franchise tends to follow through on continuing the overall story. Given that insight, it’s likely the ‘Junior and Bastard with Stocking’ show will happen. All we need is for whatever studio picks up the project to confirm it.

Final Thoughts and Season 2 Verdict

I’d honestly be open to a Panty and Stocking sequel focusing on the next generation. It’ll be interesting to see how things, besides the obvious, have changed between the shows. And I would love to know what led to Brief and Panty’s odd disappearance. Additionally, I cannot help but wonder if Bastard has a connection to the demon sisters.

As for the overall Season 2, I must give it a 9.5 out of 10. It had the same vibe, random humor, and raunchiness as its predecessor. I wish it had a little more cohesion within the collective story. And Polyester and Polyurethane were better utilized, given their prior hype. Still, New Panty and Stocking with Garterbelt felt like a proper continuation. I’m hoping Junior and Bastard can live up to the legacy they’ve been born into.
