We may not be able to travel abroad this summer, but Luca does well to immerse us in the Italy Riviera.
In fact, the Disney and Pixar animated film does even better: Who needs a boring vacation when you can watch a fantastical adventure centered around human beings and sea monsters.
Luca introduced the underwater aspect in a second trailer revealed Wednesday:
Previously, Feb. 25, the first trailer focused more on the titular character above ground:
Overall, Luca Paguro (voiced by Jacob Tremblay) is psyched for a summer full of carefree and limitless adventure. However, he and his best friend have a secret: nobody can find out that once his body hits any body of water, he transforms into a sea monster.
Luca was directed by Oscar-nominated Enrico Casarosa (La Luna)—his Pixar directorial debut—and produced by Andrea Warren (Lava, Cars 3). Jesse Andrews and Mike Jones are credited as writers. Alongside Tremblay, the voice cast includes Maya Rudolph, Jack Dylan Grazer, Emma Berman, Jim Gaffigan and Marco Barricelli.
The fun begins July 18, streaming exclusively on Disney Plus. Check out the latest poster below.
