If you’re like me and grew up yelling “Go Go Power Rangers!” at your TV, you’re not alone — and now there’s reason to feel that call again. After years of speculation, the iconic franchise is officially morphing back to life, with a new live-action reboot of “Power Rangers” slated for release on Disney+.
This week, Disney+ confirmed that they are developing a new live-action “Power Rangers” series. The project is being spearheaded by Hasbro Entertainment, which owns the Power Rangers IP, in collaboration with 20th Television. Leading the creative charge will be longtime collaborators Jonathan E. Steinberg and Dan Shotz, best known for their work on “Percy Jackson and the Olympians”.
As TheWrap reported, Steinberg and Shotz are “in talks to write, show-run and produce a live-action Power Rangers series for Disney+.”
Despite confirmation of the reboot, there’s much we don’t yet know:
For longtime fans, this reboot offers hope for a return to the giant Zords, colorful suits, and team-up heroics that defined their childhood, with a contemporary polish. For a new audience, it could serve as a fresh entry point into a deeply iconic franchise, potentially blending classic “morphin’ time” action with modern storytelling sensibilities.
As of now, the series remains in early development, but if all goes well, we could be hearing that iconic call — “It’s Morphin’ Time!” — again in the near future.
