In the trailer, it appears that Sally’s (Sandra Bullock) daughter, Kylie (Joey King), attempts to end the curse that has haunted the Owens women for centuries, causing the deaths of their true loves. In doing so, she places herself on a dangerous and potentially dark path. To save her, Sally and Gilly (Nicole Kidman) must work together and enlist the help of a scholar of the craft (Lee Pace), who helps Sally unlock powers she never knew she possessed…and perhaps something more.
Sandra Bullock and Nicole Kidman return to their roles as sisters Sally and Gillian Owens, while Joey King and Maisie Williams step into the roles of Sally’s daughters. Dianne Wiest and Stockard Channing also return to the fold as Aunt Jet and Aunt Franny.
Also joining for midnight margaritas are Lee Pace, Xolo Maridueña, and Solly McLeod.
Susanne Bier directs from a screenplay by Akiva Goldsman, Georgia Pritchett, and Kelly Marcel, based on the novel The Book of Magic by Alice Hoffman. It is produced by Denise Di Novi, Sandra Bullock, and Nicole Kidman. The executive producers are Donald Sabourin, Alice Hoffman, Andrew A. Kosove, and Broderick Johnson.
