When Denji signed his contract with Pochita, he had nothing to lose. The Yakuza had already killed him. Turning into a Devil-human hybrid with chainsaws coming out of his head and arms wasn’t unreasonable. Also, and this is very, very important: Denji isn’t real. He’s an anime character. It’s fine if he has killer machines coming out his body. The same cannot be said for YouTuber Allen Pan. He is very much a real person with lots to lose, like his life. And even though he avoided hurting himself, we wish he had considered all of that before he made a real Chainsaw Man outfit.
Pan, a YouTuber who calls himself a “failed MythBuster,” decided to turn a fun idea into a very dangerous reality. He said he wanted to find out how Chainsaw Man would work in real life. To do that he put handles on small chainsaws to make chainsaw gauntlets. He then put a working chainsaw on a football helmet. Yes, he put a freaking chainsaw on a football helmet that he then wore on his actual freaking head. That also required him to make a back brace to support his neck because it turns out putting a big heavy, awkward piece of machinery on your head is tough.
It’s also really dangerous. This whole video is one slip away from being a Darwin Awards Hall-of-Fame nominee. Fortunately Pan did manage to avoid cutting of his little Pan. He also successfully avoided nicking an artery and bleeding to death.
We’re happy this dangerous endeavor didn’t end in disaster. Because if something awful did happen Pochita wasn’t going to show up and make Pan an offer to come back to life as Chainsaw Man.
That only happens in cartoons, the only place where you should ever see people with chainsaws for heads.
