Report: Shawn Mendes to star in 'Lyle, Lyle, Crocodile' adaptation

The range of Shawn Mendes' voice knows no bounds.

"Pop star Shawn Mendes is set to voice Lyle in Will Speck & Josh Gordon’s Lyle, Lyle, Crocodile for Sony Pictures," Deadline's Justin Kroll exclusively reported on Thursday. "Javier Bardem, Constance Wu and Winslow Fegley also are on board to star. Speck & Gordon will direct, with the script being adapted by Will Davies. The film is based on the bestselling children’s book by Bernard Waber."

Kroll additionally noted that this is Mendes' "first role in a major studio film" and will arrive Nov. 18, 2022.

Lyle, Lyle, Crocodile was first published in 1965 and follows Lyle as he lives on East 88th Street in New York City with the Primm family:

Mendes, 23, is set to begin the North American leg of his 64-date Wonder: The World Tour.

The chart-topper announced in recent weeks that the U.K. and European leg has been moved to 2023 "due to the pandemic." See below.
