This week’s newest episode of Rick and Morty Season 8 is truly a unique one. Instead of focusing on the titular duo, the recent installment is a Jerry episode. The often overlooked man of the house goes on an interdimensional journey. He, luckily, is accompanied by someone who knows all the tricks of the ‘open road.’ Unfortunately, they cross paths with a foe with the power to ruin their return trip. And could this enemy return despite their supposed death in the end?

Rick and Morty Starring Jerry Smith

The Rick and Morty episode begins when Jerry encounters another Jerry. This newcomer is, in actuality, a traveler who specializes in traversing the multiverse. The pair proceeds to have fun hanging out across various realities. But when Jerry needs to return home, they unfortunately miss their chance. The Jerrys go to an interdimensional crosspoint run by other Jerrys called Grand Central. And the entire operation is controlled by a corrupt Jerry wearing a leather jacket.

The Boss Jerry immediately blackballs the duo and banishes them to the traveler’s home dimension. Nevertheless, the pair returns and is pursued across various realities by the Boss. They manage to escape by collapsing a portal that engulfs their foe into a void.

A New Possible Arch-Enemy

Throughout Rick and Morty‘s duration, we’ve seen numerous alternate versions of the show’s characters. And that includes evil or malicious variants like Evil Morty and Rick Prime. This Season 8 episode adds a villainous Jerry to the rogues’ gallery. He even commands an army of unwanted or abandoned Jerrys from across the multiverse.

Despite falling into a void via a collapsing portal, Boss Jerry’s death remains unconfirmed. He might return for revenge against either or both Jerrys. If so, he could become the next major villain on Rick and Morty. But only time will tell if this prediction comes true or not.

Final Verdict and Thoughts

For me, this new Rick and Morty episode gets a 9 out of 10! It’s an entertaining episode with subtle lessons about self-love and family bonds. And it presents interesting possible developments for future stories and seasons. Plus, it showcases Chris Parnell’s impressive vocal range since he voices all the various Jerrys. My only nitpick is that it lacks the show’s traditional extravagant violence and action. The episode is enjoyable nonetheless, and I cannot wait for the next one.
