Robert Downey Jr. is doubling down on his anti-AI stance.
The actor, best-known for playing Iron Man in the MCU, has revealed what will happen if he’s ever turned into a digital character using AI or deepfake technology without his express permission.
"I intend to sue all future executives,” Downey Jr. said in an interview for On With Kara Swisher. “[If I'm dead] my law firm will still be very active.”
The discussion revolved around the actor’s role as Iron Man, one of the most important characters for Marvel. While explicit in his desire not to license his likeness and become a digital replica, Downey Jr. says he’s not concerned in that being an outcome.
“To go back to the MCU, I am not worried about them hijacking my character’s soul because there’s like three or four guys and gals who make all the decisions there anyway and they would never do that to me, with or without me.”
“There’s two tracks. How do I feel about everything that’s going on? I feel about it minimally because I have an actual emotional life that’s occurring that doesn’t have a lot of room for that.”
We’ll next see the actor in 2026’s Avengers: Doomsday. He won’t be Iron Man, however, but Doctor Doom, a villain potentially even more powerful than Thanos.
