Rose Byrne & Bobby Cannavale have a cardboard cutout of this celebrity in their home

If this had been written in 2020, nobody would bat an eye at a headline about somebody having a cardboard cutout—stadiums across the country were full of them, after all.

But when Rose Byrne virtually visited The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon on Thursday night, he had questions about why she and Bobby Cannavale have a cardboard cutout of a young Rod Stewart in their living room.

"How fabulous is he?" the Emmy-nominated Australian actress said. "Look at that."

Fallon was even more baffled when Byrne wasn't exactly convincing when he asked if they're fans of Stewart.

"Look, he's part of the family now," she responded. "The kids refer to him as, like, Uncle Rod. Roddy Rod Stewart. He's always there. ... So, Bobby did a show Vinyl where he played a record executive, and so, he had this fancy office with all the rockstars. So, he had this massive cutout of Rod Stewart. And we brought it back kind of as a joke, and then it's become part of the family."

Byrne and Cannavale share two sons, five-year-old Rocco and three-year-old Rafa. The couple has been together since 2012. Though they aren't legally married, Byrne still wears bands on her ring finger and calls Cannavale her husband, as relayed by Vanity Fair, and Cannavale still calls Byrne his wife.

"I can't find a better word for it, honestly," the Primetime Emmy-winning actor explained on The Late Late Show with James Corden last November. "Boyfriend-girlfriend feels too young. Partners feels too clinical. And, you know, my lady partner? That feels weird. It's just easier."

Byrne was on The Tonight Show because her Apple TV Plus series Physical will premiere next Friday (June 18). Based on the premise, maybe the Byrne-Cannavale home will gain a cardboard cutout of Jane Fonda. Watch the trailer below.
