Samuel L. Jackson opines on his best five movies

Samuel L. Jackson was nominated for an Oscar for Jules Winnfield role in Pulp Fiction.

He has starred in Steven Spielberg's Jurassic Park (1993), embodied Coach Ken Carter in the underrated sports drama Coach Carter (2005), and he "had it with these m—f—ing snakes on this m—f—ing plane!" in 2006's Snakes on a Plane.

None of that crossed the 72-year-old actor's mind when listing his personal five favorite Samuel L. Jackson movies during his visit with A Late Show with Stephen Colbert :

Jackson selected The Long Kiss Goodnight (1996), A Time to Kill (1996), Jackie Brown (1997), One Eight Seven (1997) and The Red Violin (1998).

As for the Samuel L. Jackson line most often yelled by fans at Samuel L. Jackson: "You know what the line is now? 'What's in your wallet?' [Laughs] Out of all the movies I've done ... 'What's in your wallet?' And I say, 'My wife's hand.' And that's the end of it."

Whether you agree with Jackson's top-five list, the good news is that he is actively adding to his filmography.

Jackson reprised his role of hitman Darius Kincaid for The Hitman's Wife's Bodyguard, out June 16, and he virtually joined Colbert from a set in Atlanta where he is shooting a forthcoming Apple TV Plus limited series The Last Days of Ptolemy Grey.

"It's a Walter Mosley novel that I've been trying to do for a very long time about a 93-year-old man with Alzheimer's who has an opportunity to take a miracle drug that will kill him more than likely in a week, but it will give him a week to get his life in order to take care of his family and to find out some things that he had forgotten in his dementia," Jackson explained of his Ptolemy Grey role, which was first reported last December.
